April 2011 - November 2014
The FPTP Tokyo 2 is an accredited Feldenkrais training program.
The Tokyo II training will prepare you to be a competent and skillful practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method, including the practice of ATM and FI. You will learn how to effectively communicate about the Feldenkrais Method, discover how to bring a sense of curiosity and engagement to your continuing exploration of the Method and to your life, and to understand the deeper relevance of the work to the development of the entire human being. Self-knowledge through awareness is the goal of reeducation. As we become aware of what we are doing in fact, and not what we say or think we are doing, the way to improvement is wide open to us. Moshe Feldenkrais The training is an intensive and potentially transformative process, which will involve your entire self. You will be engaged in a experiential learning process using a variety of methodologies and strategies, including : Awareness Through Movement® Classes Awareness Through Movement lessons are precisely structured movement explorations that involve thinking, sensing, moving, and imagining. Many are based on developmental movements and ordinary functional activities. Some are based on more abstract explorations of joint, muscle, and postural relationships. The lessons consist of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into movements of greater range and complexity. The point of my work is to lead to awareness in action, or the ability to make contact with one’s own skeleton and muscles and with the environment practically simultaneously. Moshe Feldenkrais Functional Integration® Lessons Functional Integration is a hands-on form of tactile, kinesthetic communication. The Feldenkrais practitioner communicates to the student how he/she organizes his/her body and uses gentle touching and movement to help him/her learn how to move in more expanded functional motor patterns. The learning process is carried out without the use of any invasive or forceful procedure. The practitioner develops a lesson for the student, custom-tailored to the unique configuration of that particular person, at that particular moment. Through rapport and respect for the student’s abilities, qualities, and integrity, the practitioner creates an environment in which the student can learn comfortably how to reorganize both body and behavior in new and more effective ways. I believe that the unity of mind and body is an objective reality. They are not just parts somehow related to each other, but an inseparable whole while functioning. Moshe Feldenkrais Lectures, demonstrations, guided and more free-form explorations, experience sharing opportunities, question and answer sessions, faculty supervision, study group projects and between-segment assignments will be used throughout the training. We will utilize many small group structures—from interactive discussions, explorations and problem solving exercises to small group supervisions. As you interact with the other students you will be developing collegial relationships which will serve you throughout the training, and once you are practitioners. |
